Dick Gabriel on Lisp Richard Gabriel, is a computer scientist who is an expert on the programming language  LISP, he has degrees in mathematics and artificial intelligence, the best work that he did, is the essay “Lisp: Good News, How to Win Big”. He started his Company called Lucid that also uses Lisp.  In the podcast of Software Engineering Radio, the guest Richard, talks about the characteristics of this programming language Lisp and the history behind Lisp. He mention that lisp has an age of 50 years and was used to créate artificial intelligence, at the beginning the first verions were only of 50 lines of code. He also said that Lisp is a very good programming language in macros. He talked about the data as program/program as data and the history of Mccarthy. Beating The Averages First I'am going to define what is a hacker because some people think that a hacker is a person who do only ilegal things but this definition it's incorrect. A hacker is a person who, due to his advanced knowledge in the computer field, has an extraordinary performance in the subject and is capable of performing many challenging activities, through a computer. It's a master in programming languages, hardware and software manipulation.  LISP is a language based lists process, but they are implemented as if they were functions, in the short time that I have been practicing it, I know it is a bit difficult to manage, for example I have seen that the variables can be modified, but in this language don't, the variables that are designated with a value, stay with that. The Semicolon Wars There have always been discussions about which programming language is better than the others, in which of them you can solve more problems or is easier to use, but in my opinion, I think that, as the text says, the best language is the one that you know better, because there is a significant difference between express yourself with your "native language", than in a language you have just started to know. To be able to say that certain kind of language is better than others, we should take in count the facility that the person have to understand certain characteristics of the language. Programming Languages Hi, My name is Andrés,  I'm 22 years old. I like to go to the gym and be with my friends, in my free time I like to see dragon ball or actions movies.  What I expect from this course is to learn a new programming language, because I never heard about Clojure,  I also would like to learn new programming techniques. :)
